The Im'umi Escort Craft is one of the first spacecraft design developed with Inner Sphere technology in mind. It made use concurrently the Sleipnir and made use of much of the same design principles. It is capable of reaching up to 4g over prolonged duration and 6.5g for a short time. While Heatsink technology was used in its design, a pair of 250m² Thermal Control Wings were integrated into the system for non-combat use and retracted behind armored doors during combat.

The Im'imi was designed by the Cer'ther Industries Yard of the United Colonies in 61 Virginis following a Request for Designs by the WCDC Defense Council with the understanding that the design would be licensed to other dockyards for production. It makes use of all the concepts learned during the design and prototype phase of the Sleipnir and uses a similar seamless skeleton frame of Carbon nanotube reinforced Ti-Al-Fe Alloy as the Sleipnir, with its construction needing a specialized fabricator.

As the WCDC expects all combat capable space craft of new designs to be FTL capable, it is equipped with a Heim-Feynman Event Generator, that is also capable of producing a Shrivatsa Mini Magnetosphere. Learning from Inner Sphere designs, the Im'umi is designed to land on a planetary surface, allowing it to be serviced just about everywhere.

Additionally, the Im'umi is one of the first space craft build with MIL-STD-102343 Standartized Weapon System Interfaces, so that any weapon and other system could quickly be replaced to suit the needs of the job, enabling to switch from one variant of the craft to another in less than half an hour with the correct infrastructure to facilitate these changes.

The main use case for the Im'umi is as an escort craft, protecting civilian or other shipments between systems, as well as act as fast escorts for larger combat spacecraft. It is also employed as Patrol Leader, being the command craft of a squadron of Sleipnir patrol craft, and stationed on planetary surfaces as planetary defense craft. While the Im'umi is less maneuverable than the Sleipnir, the craft nonetheless remains a capable foe to aerospace fighters.

Additionally, the Im'umi can carry external one shot pods with missiles up to Class IV, which gives the spacecraft a heavy initial punch capable of endangering Inner Sphere WarShips.
